Grid Tie Inverters

Grid Tie Inverters

Solar inverters work with solar panels and solar kits. They are an important component that converts the direct current (DC) which is collected from the sun’s rays to the alternating current (AC) which is used for household appliances.

A grid-tie inverter (GTI, also known as a synchronous inverter) is an electrical inverter that allows solar energy users to complement grid power with solar power. A GTI works by regulating the amount of voltage and current that is received from the direct current received from solar panels (or any other direct current energy source such as wind turbines, hydro turbines, and engine generators). The grid-tie inverter then converts the current into an alternating current.

There are many differences between the grid-tie inverter and basic electrical inverters, but the main difference is that the grid-tie inverter makes sure that the solar power converted is in phase with the grid power. This means that the excess power generated by solar energy will be easily sold back to the utility company. The meter must be able to go in both directions. Grid-tie inverters must have anti-islanding protections, which means they become disconnected from the grid if the grid power is turned off.

Anti-islanding protection is an important aspect of solar inverters. Anti-islanding refers to when a grid-tie inverter senses there is a power outage and the inverter shuts itself down and stops the production of electricity. When a power grid powers off the circuits within, the system sometimes sends out resonating currents. The inverter may confuse these currents with regular alternating currents and in turn will not shut off. This is very dangerous to people who believe that all power is off because the grid is turned off. The anti-islanding protection feature injects small pulses into the circuit which offset the resonating pulses. This allows the inverter to recognize that the power is off and will shut the inverter down as well. Grid-tie inverters do not work when the power grid is off because the energy is stored in the grid.

There are such things as off-grid inverters, which store their energy in batteries. Traditional grid-tie inverters store their energy in the grid system, which is why if they power is down at the grid, there will be no power at the source of the solar energy. Off-grid inverters do not need anti-islanding protection, and they also do not allow for excess energy to be sold back to the power company.

Chinese Solar Home Systems

The Chinese rural energy development project aims to make using solar power an everyday event. The vast distances between the rural villages means that many don’t have access to the national electricity grid. Using solar power is an increasingly common choice. The chance to watch TV and listen to the radio are two strong incentives for the villagers to go for solar energy.

Electricity in the Winter with Solar Power

Solar power is generated when energy from the sun is converted into electricity via solar cells. It is an excellent source of renewable energy for people who do not have access to power from a grid system. It is most appropriate for countries located in the “Sunbelt”, that is, countries that are within thirty degrees north or south of the equator, where there is high direct solar radiation all year round. In Northern latitudes, there is little solar radiation in winter time.

Solar Energy Use in Dominican Republic

Approximately 400,000 rural households in the Dominican Republic lack access to grid electricity. The remote village of Sabana Mula uses the small grants scheme for solar energy.

How Solar Panels Help Rural Areas in Cuba

Of Cuba’s population, 95% is connected to the national electricity grid, but it’s not economic to link up the remaining 5%, being small communities far from Cuba’s main infrastructure. But now Cuba has started making solar panels, bringing vital benefits to the most remote areas.

Turf Aerations for all seasons

Aerator is a device which helps maintain the soil and turf in the best possible condition. One of the leading causes of turf injury is soil compaction. This compaction leads to the core turf grass development, weak pressure, standing water and bare spots.

Type 1 Diabetes Death Rate is Falling, But Not Fast Enough

Death rates have dropped significantly in people with type 1diabetes. Numerous improvements have been made in type 1 diabetes management during the past 30 years, including the advent of blood glucose monitors, insulin pumps, newer insulin, better medications to prevent complications and most recently continuous glucose monitors

Secondhand smoke kills 600,000 a year worldwide

A new study led by World Health Organization researchers found passive smoking or secondhand smoke kills about 600,000 people worldwide each year. Overall, tobacco smoking kills an estimated 5.1 million people worldwide each year.

You need to act Now, to help save the environment

Your lifestyle is contributing to the problems our environment is facing. Burning fuels like petrol (to run your car) or coal (to create electricity at the power station) creates more carbon to the mix. Our atmosphere is choking. You must act now, and you can do something about it… we’ve made it easy for you.

Basic Chemical Lab Supplies

If you are looking to equip a chemical lab, you will need chemical lab supplies that cover not only working with the chemicals, but also supplies that protect you from exposure from the chemicals you are working with.

The Parts Of Microscope

The microscope was invented by Dutch spectacle makers, Hans Lippershey and his son, Zaccharias Janssen while experimenting with a variety of lenses in the late 1590s. This father and son team placed several lenses into a tube and discovered that it can magnify an object by about nine times more than its normal size.

Dark Energy – A Factor on Universe Expansion

Dynamical evolution of Universe and development of cosmic structure are driven by astronomical observations. Historically, measurements on galaxy and larger cosmological scales conflicted with predictions based on a cosmological model that combined Einstein’s theory of gravity (general relativity) and the standard model of particle physics. Modifications to this model were later introduced, involving dark matter and dark energy. Dark energy may be a major factor for expansion of the Universe.

EnviroCitizen.org recently became acquainted with yet another eco-conscious community. Prairie Crossing is known as the Conservation Community, and for good reason! Located in Grayslake, Illinois, Prairie Crossing was created to conserve open land, increase the availability of local transit and encourage its residents to take part in an eco-friendly lifestyle. Prairie Crossing operates an on-site organic farm, which yields produce sold at their local farmers market.

Eco-Couture: The Green Shows

Eco-fashion is not really fashion- at least that’s probably what most of us think. It conveys a message, usually with a sassy or informational phrase, but doesn’t show a sense of style or show your individuality. It shows you care about the environment, but not really your appearance. However, eco-friendly clothing is on the rise, and there are many places to purchase trendy clothes that are fashionable and cute. Last week we saw a great example of this in New York City.

Nontoxic Office Supplies

Achieving a green office is getting easier. With all sorts of organizations specifying greener products, there are increasing environmental options. Both large and smaller companies offer goods made from sustainably harvested woods and recycled, bio-based, or nontoxic materials, and made with glues, paints, foams, and other ingredients that don’t give off noxious odors.

Organic Cotton and Other Eco

When we go to bed, we want to have a sound rest. This can be made even better by using bedding that is sustainably made. Synthetic materials, such as polyester, are very common. These are made from nonrenewable chemicals rather than all-natural products that can be grown. There are also some health issues that may arise from the VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in these materials.

Ovens That Save

It may be shocking, but the greatest source of pollution isn’t our cars, it is our homes. Several of the things we use daily require lots of electricity. Fortunately, there are ways to curb the amount of electricity that we use so the pollution is lessened. Using energy efficient appliances is one way to accomplish this.

Ozone Free Air Purifiers

We all know that ozone is what helps protect the Earth from Ultra Violet rays, but not all of us know that ozone can actually be toxic when it’s in the wrong place. Air purifiers are often actually ozone machines. These devices are not always safe and effective in controlling indoor air pollution.
